Pam D. Luka (DVM, MSc., PhD), Chief Veterinary Research Officer, National Veterinary Research Institute, PMB 01 Vom, 930103, Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria
Pam Luka is a Veterinary Research Officer with the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), Vom as a Molecular Virologist. He is a specialist on transboundary, infectious and zoonotic diseases of animals. A trained veterinarian from the University of Maiduguri and aMaster’sdegree in Molecular Biology and a PhD all from Makerere University.
In 2005, he joined the National Veterinary Research Institute, as a veterinary research officer and has been involved in the utilization of various research and diagnostic techniques for the control of animal diseases such as African swine fever (ASF), Peste des petit ruminants (PPR), Infectious bursal disease (IBD), Avian Influenza (AI), Rabies and Salmonella. He was a former Acting Head of Department of Biotechnology and currently the Group Leader working on African swine fever diagnosis and control.
Pam Luka is Visiting Senior Lecturer with the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology, University of Jos and has supervised several students. He has participated in joint FAO/IAEA projects on “Early and Rapid Diagnosis and Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases — Phase II: African Swine Fever”. He has also designed animal experiments in pigs as Principal investigator.
